Current Pastor
Father Sam was born in Rochester, NY, the second of two identical twins in 1967. He went to elementary and secondary school in Rochester as well. After graduating, Sam went to Cleveland, Ohio where he majored in biology and minored in chemistry and german. Graduating in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science, he went on to graduate level studies in biology at the University of Dayton. It was there that he heard the voice of the Lord clearly inviting him to explore another world than the world of science. He was admitted to the Diocese of Rochester's discernment house but later discerned a call to enter the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. Upon admission into the congregation's formation program, Sam then went on to Jesuit-run Regis College of the Toronto School of Theology and three years later, earned his STB and his M.Div. degrees with a concentration in biblical studies. He was then sent for a cross-cultural experience in Italy for six-months, where he refined his appreciation for the Italian culture and language. Upon returning to the States, Sam was definitively incorporated into the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, and one month later, ordained to the transitional Diaconate in Toronto. As a deacon, Sam served at St. Michael's Church in Fort Erie for five months. He was then ordained to the Priesthood at his home parish in Rochester on July 3, 1999 and assigned as Associate Pastor of Our Lady of the Scapular Church in Niagara Falls, ON. He served there for eight months, when his provincial re-assigned him as Vocations Director with residence in Toronto. In October 2002, Fr. Sam accepted the assignment as Pastor of St. Alexander's in Sudbury, ON, where he currently is still stationed.
