Pastor’s Point to Ponder

The first letter of Peter boldly asserts, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy, he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead: a birth into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading…." Yes, we are blessed indeed! We are partakers in the inheritance of salvation because of the new birth we have each received in baptism! And that new birth can NEVER be taken away from us! What’s more, it makes our adoption as God’s sons and daughters imperishable, undefiled, and unfading! All of the awesome promises of God are because of the great mercy he has shown us---- first by emptying himself and becoming both God and Man, second by teaching us what it means to share in the promises made to those in God’s family, and third by putting his convictions into action and willingly dying for our sins, so that we might be able to rise with him to new life! What a wonderful Easter mystery! What an indescribable expression of the love of God! May each of us take some time this week to recognize the blessedness of being baptized, being made heirs to the Kingdom of God and brothers and sisters of the Messiah, Jesus Christ!
